It Takes Transportation
Transportation Choices Coalition is a policy and advocacy nonprofit that works to make transportation accessible to all in Washington State. For years, the state legislature had failed to renew a funding package for transportation, and projects to improve transit and biking/walking infrastructure were stuck along with it.
Building on work together that began in 2020, in 2021 we created a robust public campaign to tell legislators that A Better Future #TakesTransportation.
This project included developing campaign strategy, recruiting coalition partner organizations and endorsing elected officials, web design and development, email copywriting, graphic production, event support, and ongoing strategic guidance.
Together we generated thousands of letters to legislators and created the conditions for lawmakers to step into leadership on the issue. The campaign was done in close coordination with TCC’s policy staff as well as a group of diverse partner organizations from across the state.
In March 2022, state legislators passed Move Ahead Washington, a historic, nearly $17 billion transportation package that included a larger proportion of investments in transit and biking/walking infrastructure than ever before in the state’s history.
